12 months, or 13, is a long time. on the one hand, that means plenty of time to accomplish goals and plans. On the other hand, it means plenty of time for the excitement to wear off and lose focus. I used a planning system in the past that used 3 months as the ideal time frame to make changes, because it was enough to make major changes but short enough to stay focused.
So, 12 months, would be 4 three-month sprints. And the first sprint is over the summer, and now I won’t have a job, so I will have a ton of time to focus on my goals and our home. I know I sometimes have trouble with too much free time, but I’ll use supports to help structure my day and keep me grounded and focused.
The whole timeline comes from committing to a full school year next year (which of course depends on getting one of the two school jobs I applied for. If I do not get the job, I do not really have to commit), This year’s school year ends June 6, which is a Tuesday, but looking at next year’s calendar, I feel comfortable starting the clock on June 3rd. It’s a Saturday and leaves only two workdays after it.
But I am not going to just waste the next two weeks waiting for my countdown to start. I’m going to focus on basic healthy choices to restart my weight loss, as well as cleaning and organizing so I have supports for the challenge. I’m not going to get too ahead of myself, but here is a quick peak at what I see for my 4 three-month sprints.
